Choose Your Adventure
Four ways to sail the Sea of Cortez. Pick the one that fits your day — or stitch a few together. We've been doing this since the catamarans were new.
From "wow" to "wait, let me take another photo"
Every tour we run leaves from Marina Cabo San Lucas Dock F aboard one of our two catamarans — the Zig Zag (up to 30 guests, party-ready) or the Blue Lagoon (up to 14 guests, intimate and overnight-capable). Each has a full premium bar, fresh food on board, and crew that's been doing this since before "Instagram boat" was a search term.
Snorkeling Tour
Sail straight into the most biodiverse marine environments in North America. We anchor at Pelican Rock, Santa Maria Bay, or Chileno Bay — whichever has the best visibility that day — and you spend 90 minutes underwater surrounded by parrotfish, angelfish, rays, and the occasional sea turtle photobomb.
The three snorkeling spots, explained
Pelican Rock — 15 minutes from the marina at Land's End. Calm, sheltered, excellent visibility. Best for beginners, families, and anyone who wants maximum fish-per-minute. You'll see massive schools of tropical fish that are completely used to snorkelers.
Santa Maria Bay — A protected horseshoe cove along the Tourist Corridor. White sand, turquoise water, calm conditions, abundant marine life. The volcanic rock formations on either side create hiding spots for parrotfish, angelfish, pufferfish, and moray eels.
Chileno Bay — A Blue Flag beach with rockier reef structure that attracts bigger species. Often a touch less crowded than Santa Maria. Sandy beach entry and crystal-clear water make it a favorite for underwater photography.
Snorkeling Tour — Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly do we snorkel?
We sail to the best spot of the day — usually Pelican Rock at Land's End (15 min from the marina, ideal for beginners), Santa Maria Bay (a protected horseshoe cove packed with parrotfish, angelfish and rays), or Chileno Bay (a Blue Flag beach with rockier reefs and bigger species). Your captain picks based on conditions. They always go for the good stuff.
Do I need snorkeling experience?
Not at all. Our sites have calm, shallow water with excellent visibility — perfect for first-timers and kids. Our crew walks you through the gear and gets in the water with you. If you're already experienced, you'll love how much life is packed into these reefs.
What gear is provided?
Masks, snorkels, fins, flotation vests, and towels — all included. We also bring 2 paddle boards on board, so if snorkeling isn't your vibe that day, you can paddle instead. Warm blankets on deck in winter.
What animals can I see underwater?
The Sea of Cortez is one of the most biodiverse marine environments on the planet. Expect parrotfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, pufferfish, moray eels, sea urchins and rays. Lucky guests spot sea turtles and manta rays. You never know what shows up.
What food and drinks are included?
Our sailor-chef prepares turkey and cheese baguettes, chips, Mexican salsa and our famous guacamole — made fresh on board. Premium open bar: beer, margaritas, red and white wine, rum, vodka, tequila, whisky, soft drinks, juice and water.
What time do tours depart?
AM departures at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 and 11:00. PM departures at 14:00, 14:30 and 15:00. Morning tours have the calmest water and best visibility. We can adjust to fit your group — just let us know when you book.
What should I bring?
Reef-safe sunscreen (required in marine parks), swimwear, comfortable clothes for the sail, a camera or GoPro, and a good attitude. We handle everything else.
Sunset Sailing Tour
Three hours that ruin every other sunset for you forever. We sail past El Arco, Lover's Beach, and the sea lion colony at Land's End, then drop anchor in open water for the main event: the sun melting into the Pacific while you decide whether to take another photo or just stop and look.
The route
Sunset Tour — Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Sunset Tour route look like?
We sail past El Arco de Cabo San Lucas — the famous stone arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. You cruise by Lover's Beach, wave at the sea lion colony at Land's End, then head into open water to watch the sun drop below the Pacific horizon. There's no bad seat on a catamaran for this one.
How long is the Sunset Tour?
Three hours. Just enough time to see the landmarks, catch golden hour, watch the full sunset, and still make it back to shore before you're too comfortable to leave the net.
Is the Sunset Tour good for couples?
It's one of our most popular picks for couples, anniversaries and proposals — yes, we've had a few of those on board. If you're planning something special, let us know in advance and we'll make sure the details are right. Good wine, Pacific sunset, sound of water. Hard to go wrong.
Can we see wildlife on the Sunset Tour?
The sea lion colony at Land's End is almost always a guaranteed sighting. In winter (December through April), whale sightings during sunset tours are common — humpbacks are most active in the late afternoon. Dolphins join us occasionally too.
What time does the Sunset Tour depart?
Departure times shift seasonally to align with sunset — typically between 14:30 and 16:00 depending on time of year. We confirm the exact time when you book. In winter, sunset comes earlier, so we adjust accordingly.
What is included in the bar?
Full premium open bar: beer, margaritas, red and white wine, rum, vodka, tequila, whisky, plus soft drinks, juice and water. Plus fresh snacks on board. It's not a dry tour — promise.

How far in advance should I book?

Whale Watching Tour
Every winter, humpback and gray whales travel thousands of miles from Alaska to the warm waters where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. They come to mate, give birth, and nurse their calves — and Cabo San Lucas sits right on the migration path. Mid-December through April, we take you straight to them.
Who you might see
Humpback Whales
Dec–Apr. Most common in Cabo. Up to 50 feet. Showoffs — love to breach, slap their tails, wave their pec fins. Babies arrive in January.
Gray Whales
Jan–Mar. Up to 49 feet. Often in small groups close to shore. Curious and known to approach boats — sometimes you can almost reach out and touch them.
Blue Whales
Peak season. The largest animal that has ever lived. Rare but unforgettable when they show up. If you see one, you remember it forever.
Orcas & Sperm Whales
Occasional. Less common but possible. Cabo is one of the few places on earth where this many species cross paths in one season.
When to come
Whale Watching — Frequently Asked Questions
When is whale watching season in Cabo San Lucas?
Whale season runs from mid-December through April, with peak activity from January through March. This is when humpback and gray whales are most active — breaching, tail-slapping, and nursing their calves in the warm waters where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. If you are visiting during these months, do not skip this tour.
What whale species can we see?
Humpbacks are the most common — showoffs that love to breach. Gray whales arrive in January and are often spotted in small groups near shore. In peak months (January to February) you may also encounter blue whales, sperm whales, and occasionally orcas. One of the few places on earth where multiple species show up in a single outing.
Is a whale sighting guaranteed?
We operate during peak season and our captains know exactly where to find them. Sightings are extremely common — but whales are wild animals and the ocean is their territory. We can promise you will be in the best possible position to see something incredible. Most tours do not come back empty.
What time of day is best for whale watching?
Morning tours offer the calmest conditions and best visibility — great for families or anyone prone to motion sickness. Afternoon tours tend to have more wind and wave action, which often triggers more dramatic behaviors like breaching and pectoral fin slapping. Both are excellent — it depends on what you are after.
Is the Whale Watching Tour good for kids and families?
Yes — seeing a 50-foot humpback breach 30 meters from a catamaran is the kind of thing kids talk about for years. Our catamarans are stable and spacious with plenty of room to move safely. Morning departures are calmer, which makes them the better option for younger guests.
What is included in the Whale Watching Tour?
A bilingual crew experienced in reading whale behavior, premium open bar, food on board, and warm blankets for early morning or winter departures. We also pass by El Arco and the sea lion colony on the way out — the sightseeing starts before we even reach the whales.
